Mapping Carnegie Hall
Obscura created the first ever immersive symphony experience for the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. By mapping full high-resolution video to Carnegie Hall’s unique architecture - the walls, the stage, and the historic dome ceilings - Obscura took patrons on emotional journey across time and space, immersing them in sight and sound from all angles.
Working closely with Conductor Michael Tilson Thomas and YouTube to enhance the musical intricacies and uniqueness of the program, Obscura created unique video reflecting on the time period and origin of select pieces, the instruments being played, the worldwide cultures of the musicians and on the music’s overall complexity.
Using patented technologies, Obscura “painted” close to 20,000 square feet of disparate surface and historic architecture, marrying its technologies to the inspired music of the YTSO.
