Black & White Ball 2010

Outdoor architectural projection

The largest black tie fundraiser in the nation invited Obscura Digital to transform the facade of San Francisco’s City Hall into an interactive playground of light and color. A dozen high definition Christie projectors and Obscura’s proprietary technology created a stunning backdrop for the 5000-person, 4-hour party, produced by Robert Fountain Design.

A Twitter feed added an interactive element to the spectacle. Partygoers could not only see their tweets projected on the two-block-long building, but they could actually change the visuals by tweeting special hashtags. The Black & White Ball is an evening of music, food, and dancing in San Francisco’s Civic Center benefitting the San Francisco Symphony.
